Richmond Management Services Ltd was formed in 1998 as a niche consulting firm specialising in technology strategy, management of innovation and project management, both for commerce and industry and for the public sector.

The company operates from the heart of the high-technology community in Cambridge and can draw on a network of associates in the principal centres in the UK and Europe as required for individual projects.

Before setting up Richmond Management Services, Chris Coffin was Marketing Director - and responsible for the Defence and Energy divisions - of Strachan & Henshaw Ltd, part of the Weir Group and a well-regarded manufacturer of custom-engineered capital equipment. Previously he was Business Manager of Cambridge Consultants, a subsidiary of consultants Arthur D. Little and one of the foremost contract R&D firms in the UK.

Chris is also experienced in the public sector, having spent three years on several long-term assignments with the DTI. He has an engineering degree from Cambridge University and an MBA from Cranfield, and is also a Fellow of the IEE and East Anglian champion of its Consultants' Management Group.

The company maintains a carefully-selected list of associates who have had P&L responsibility and/or been head of function in major organisations, or have held specialist engineering or project management roles. All of them have broad business experience and appropriate professional qualifications, and many have MBAs or other higher degrees, as well as familiarity with a range of technology that includes various accounting, e-commerce and ERP systems; telecoms protocols, LANs and WANs; and project management tools and methodologies including Primavera, MS Project and Prince.
